Add Noise Overview

The Add Noise function is a 2D effect that adds random noise to a rendered image.

It is a multi-plug-in, consisting of the Rendered image contextual menu version that adds noise to a rendered image and the Effector version that can be used in animation rendering.

The amount of noise can be independently set for each channel (R, G, B, and Alpha), and the rendered image Alpha channel allows you to add noise to only the background or foreground. The Effector version has a setting that causes the noise to move randomly in an animation rendering.

Using the Add Noise Function

Contextual Menu Version

The Rendered image contextual menu version of Add Noise adds noise to a rendered image. If no rendered image exists, an error message will be displayed.

1. With a rendered image, right click in the Image window and choose Add Noise from the contextual menu.

2. The Add Noise dialog appears.

Making the settings and clicking the OK button adds noise to the rendered image.

Note: You cannot cancel this process.

For details on the items in this dialog, refer to the Add Noise Reference below.

Effector Version

The Add Noise function of the Effector version adds noise to a rendered image immediately after the rendering is finished. The original image is not saved.

1. Choose Add Noise from the Effector pull-down menu of the Effects tab in the Rendering options.

By making the settings and clicking the OK button, and then rendering, you can obtain an image to which noise is added. The Add Noise Effector can be applied in animation rendering.

For details on the items in this dialog box, refer to the Add Noise Reference below.

The Effector version also supports Area Rendering. After performing a normal rendering without using the Effector plug-in, choose the Add Noise Effector in the Rendering options, and then perform a Area Rendering. This operation allows you to obtain an image in which noise is added only to the selected area.

Common items

Generate color noise check box

If this check box is turned on, the noise is generated in color, while if it’s off, gray-scale noise will be generated.

Opacity of Noise Text Boxes

This parameter determines the degree of opacity for each channel (R, G, B, and Alpha). 100 percent turns the entire image into noise, and no noise is added at zero percent.

Apply to Pull-down Menu

This pull-down menu allows you to select the area where noise will be added.

Animated Noise Check Box

This parameter affects animation rendering.

When this check box is on, noise with different patterns is generated in each frame. If it’s off, every frame has the same noise pattern.

Note: The Animated noise check box will be only shown in the dialog box of the Effector version. |
