Sweep Circle Overview

The SweepCircle plug-in is a shape-creating auxiliary tool that sweeps a circle along a line object to create a curved surface shaped like a tube.

1. Select a line object, curved surface part, or a part that contains line objects only.

A circle is swept along the line object you selected, creating a curved surface. When a part is selected, a circle is swept along the line objects contained in the part.

2. Choose Sweep Circle... from the Create tool.

3. The Sweep Circle dialog appears.

This dialog box allows you to specify options for the curved surface you will create.

4. Press the OK button, then drag the mouse or specify the radius by entering a numeric value.

5. A curve surface created by sweeping along the circular line objects is created.

Radius Pull-down Menu

This pull-down menu allows you to select either the numeric or mouse drag option as a method for specifying the radius.

When you select the number input option, configure other options and click the OK button, the Sweep Circle dialog box appears.

Enter the radius of the circle that is to be swept and click the OK button.

When you select the mouse drag option, configure other options and click the OK button, you then specify the radius in the Figure window by dragging the mouse.

Lateral Line Check Box

When you have selected a curved surface part, turn on this check box to also use the lateral lines for sweeping.

Begin Edge/End Edge Pull-down Menus

These pull-down menus are used to select the type of shape at the start/end edge of the created curved surface. Available options are: none, round, flat, degenerate and degenerate2.

Top: none for both start/end edges. Middle: round for the start edge and degenerate for the end edge. Bottom: flat for the start edge and degenerate2 for the end edge.

Important Notes on the SweepCircle Plugin

If the selected shape is a closed line object and its start point has no tangent handles (a rectangle, for example), sweeping may not be successful. |
