Shade 10 The Command Palette

This window can be displayed by choosing Command Palette from the View menu.
The Command Palette window contains buttons, each of which represents a Shade function allocated to keys in the Shortcut window. Clicking these command buttons has the same effect as using the shortcut keys, facilitating access to Shade features. Sizes, alignments, labels, and names of the buttons can be modified.
- To create a command button in the Command Palette window, you must first allocate a Shade feature to a shortcut key.

Palette Settings Button
Clicking this button will display the menu related to the Command Palette window.
Show/Hide Shortcut Window
Choose this item to show the Shortcut window if it is not currently displayed, and hide it if it is shown.
Command Palette Settings
Choose this item to display the Command Palette Settings dialog.
Command Palette Settings Dialog
This dialog is used to set the size, alignment, and labels of the buttons in the Command Palette.
General
Alignment and size of the buttons can be set in the General tab.
Buttons Alignment Pull-down Menu
The alignment of the buttons can be chosen from two options: 1 Column or 2 Columns.
Button Width Text Box
By entering an integer ranging from 10 to 500, the button width can be set. The units are pixels.
Button Height Text Box
By entering an integer ranging from 10 to 50, the button height can be set. The units are pixels.
Setting the Default Label
Use the Set Button and On creating new button pulldown menus to choose the label to use when creating command buttons.
Labels consist of a combination of button color (background color) and text color. Up to 8 types of labels can be used.
The Palette Settings button can also have a label of your choice.
Label
The Label Colors 1 and Label Colors 2 tabs are used to set the background and text color combinations.
Background Color Color Box
Clicking this color box will display the computer’s standard color-picker dialog, which can be used to change the background color.
Text Color Color Box
Clicking this color box will display the computer’s standard color-picker dialog, which can be used to change the text color.
Default Button
Clicking this button will reset the Command Palette Settings dialog to the default settings.
Get all Shortcut Commands
Choose this item to delete all command buttons from the current Command Palette window, and create new buttons to call Shade functions that are allocated to the keyboard keys in the Shortcut window.
New Button
Choose this item to display the New Command Button dialog.
New Command Button Dialog
This dialog is used to add keys from the Shortcut window as a button in the Command Palette window.
Shortcut Key Pull-down Menu
This pull-down menu is used to choose a shortcut key to add as a button in the Command Palette window.
Use Default Button Title Checkbox
When this checkbox is on, the title shown in the Shortcut Key pull-down menu will be used as the title for the command button.
When this checkbox is off, the content of the Button Title text box will be used as the title for the command button.
Button Title Text Box
Enter a title for the new command button to be created (and be sure to switch off the Use Default Button Title checkbox).
Label Pull-down Menu
Choose a label for the new command button.
Delete All
A dialog asking you whether you want to delete or not will appear after choosing this item.
Clicking OK will delete all the command buttons except the Palette Settings button.
Deleting Command Buttons
Click a command button in the Command Palette window while holding down the Ctrl + Shift (Win) / }{ + Shift (Mac) to delete that command button.
A dialog confirming the deletion will appear prior to deleting the command button.
Changing the Command Button Settings
Clicking a command button in the Command Palette window while holding down the Shift will display the Command Button Settings dialog, where you can change the settings for the command button.
The items in the Command Button Settings dialog are the same as the New Command Button dialog.
