COLLADA Exporter

COLLADA is an open, XML based file format created by Sony Entertainment America for its PlayStation© 3 platform. Since its release, COLLADA has become the most open, cross platform file format for moving files between graphics applications. COLLADA export is available in many software applications, including Adobe Photoshop CS 4 or higher, Vue, Poser and more. COLLADA Export is currently only available in the 32 bit versions of Shade.

COLLADA Format Output

To export in COLLADA format, go to File > Export > COLLADA…. The COLLADA Export dialog appears. You can select specific options from the Export dialog.

COLLADA Export Settings

The COLLADA Export Dialog lets you select options for COLLADA file export. Some of the settings for exporting in COLLADA are similar to settings found in other exporters.

For additional information about Basic Export Settings from Shade, refer to Help > Shade Help for the Plugin Manual.

Max Vertices Per Face Options

The default setting for maximum number of vertices per face is four sided rectangles. You can also select from 3-sided (triangles) and unlimited.

Texture Folder Option

When you export to COLLADA, this option allows you to set the name of the folder containing the exported texture maps. If you do not specify a folder name, the texture maps are exported directly into the same directory as the exported COLLADA based geometry.

File Format Menu

Select the format for exported texture maps. The choices are Windows Bitmap (.bmp), PICT, JPEG, TGA, PNG and TIFF.

Round to Nearest Integer Option

This option automatically solves rounding issues in floating point calculations in your geometry.

Check Duplicates Option

Automatically check for and remove duplicate vertices on faces generated during the export process. Selecting this option will increase the time it takes to export the model.

Double Sided Option

Automatically creates double sided faces in exported geometry. Selecting this option may avoid the addition of unwanted geometry in the export, especially when performed with Boolean options, however it can also increase the size and complexity of a model.

Flip Normals

Automatically flips all normals in the exported model.
