Extract Alpha

Extract Alpha Overview

Extract Alpha is a 2D effect that extracts the Alpha channel from a rendered image and copies it into the RGB channels. This is a multi-plug-in consisting of the Rendered image contextual menu version that operates on rendered images, and the Effector version that can be used in animation rendering. In both versions, the original Alpha channel remains as is. Each of the R, G, B and Alpha channels is given the same data as the Alpha channel.

Using the Extract Alpha Function

Contextual menu version

The Extract Alpha of the Rendered image contextual menu version extracts the Alpha channel for a rendered image. If no rendered image exists, an error message will be displayed. 1. With a rendered image, right click (Win) / control key + click (Mac) the mouse in the Image window. 2. When you choose Extract Alpha from the contextual menu, the Alpha channel is immediately extracted.

‘’You cannot cancel this process.’’

Effector Version

The Extract Alpha of the Effector version extracts the Alpha channel for a rendered image immediately after the rendering is finished. The original image is not saved. 1. Choose Extract Alpha from the Effector pull-down menu of the Effects tab in the Rendering options 2. When rendering, you obtain an image consisting of the extracted Alpha channel. The Extract Alpha Effector can be applied in animation rendering. The Effector version also supports Area Rendering. After performing a normal rendering without using the Effector plug-in, choose the Extract Alpha Effector in the Rendering options, and then perform a Area Rendering. The Alpha channel is extracted only for the selected area.
