Shade 9 Shockwave3D Exporter
From ShadeCamp
The Shockwave3D Exporter exports shape data created by Shade into the Macromedia Shockwave3D format (Windows only).

Shockwave3D Exporter Dialog
This dialog box appears when you close the Export dialog box common to Shade exporters. You can specify settings for Shockwave3D here.
Texture Mapping Check Box
When this check box is turned on, diffuse mapping such as striped, checked, marble and image set to a curved surface, sphere or polygon mesh are converted to image mapping and exported.
Texture quality Pull-down Menu
Select the value to be used when you output the texture mapping data, from 64, 128, 256, and 512 (pixels).
When 128 is selected, for instance, texture mapping data of 128 x 128 pixels is output for each object with texture mapping. The greater the value, the higher the texture quality will be, while it will also increase the data size.
Display Both Faces Check Box
Both faces will be displayed in Shockwave3D. When off, only one side is displayed. (This will create the same condition as “Single-sided” in Shade.)
Transparency Check Box
Turning on this check box adds transparency. Except when the value of Transparency in the Surface window is set to 0.0, all the objects are regarded to have transparency when exported.
Note: When the Both faces display check box is turned on, you may have difficulty expressing transparency. To avoid this problem, try Single-sided quick rendering in Shade, adjust the sides with the Flip Face check box, then export the object with the Both faces display check box off.
Distant Light Check Box
You can export data for the position, color and intensity of all the distant lights set in Shade by turning on this check box.
Model Name Text Box
Name the model to be exported here. The Shockwave3D Exporter exports all the objects in the Shade scene as a single mesh object.
Model Quality Text Box
Specify the display quality in Shockwave3D as a value between 0 and 1000. The greater the value, the higher the display quality will be, while it will also increase the data size.
Motion Check Box
Turn on this check box to export motion settings. Motion setting data will not be exported when this is not checked.
The Animation Settings dialog box does not show up when exporting motions with the Shockwave3D Exporter. If settings such as number of frames are necessary, specify the settings within Shade before you export the data. To learn which items in the Animation Settings dialog box are to be reflected to the exported data, refer to the “Animation Settings” section below.
Bounding Sphere Pull-down Menu
The Shockwave3D Exporter automatically creates a spherical body that surrounds all the objects to be exported (Bounding sphere) and exports all the included components from Shade to Shockwave 3D.
This pull-down menu allows you to select if the center location and the radius of the bounding sphere should be calculated automatically, or specified by numeric input. The objects are normally exported properly if you leave it set to “Auto”, but there may be rare occasions when part of the objects is not displayed when motion settings are exported. This happens because part of the objects is out of the bounding sphere. In this case, you need to select Numerical input in the Bounding sphere pull-down menu to extend the radius of the bounding sphere and export all the objects.
When Numerical input is selected, the Bounding sphere dialog box will be displayed after naming the file to export.
This is where you can define the center location and the radius of the bounding sphere. The values displayed here when the window comes up are those used when the “Auto” setting is selected.

Equivalent Surface Attributes
- For master surfaces, consumption of Shader in the Shockwave3D file can be held down only when the Diffuse Color check box is on. When it is inactive, the consumption will be normal.
Texture Mapping
Lights
Point Lights
Color and position data of point lights is exported. The attenuation data of the light source is always exported as a fixed value, regardless of the intensity.
Spotlights
Color, position and angle data of spotlights is exported. The attenuation data of the light source is always exported as a fixed value, regardless of the intensity.
Joints
Values of the following joints are reflected to the
All other joints are not supported
Skin settings are also supported when the motion setting is off (when in the current mode).
Motion Settings
Motion settings are exported only when the objects are included in the above joints. Skin settings are not supported in this case.
Export of scale joints and uni-scale joints is not supported when other joints are included in such joints.
Note: You need to turn on the Motion check box in the Shockwave3D Exporter dialog box to export motion setting data.
Animation Settings
The following items are included in the exported motion data.
- Number of frames
- From
- To
- Step
- Frame rate
When the Frame rate, From and To are all specified, the values in the From and To fields will be enabled. If the From field is blank, frame 0 will be the first frame to start the animation. If the To field is blank, the value set to the Total frames field will be the last frame of the animation.
Note: The Animation Settings dialog box does not show up when exporting motions with the Shockwave3D Exporter. If settings such as number of frames are necessary, specify the settings within Shade before you export the data. To learn which items in the Animation Settings dialog box are to be reflected to the exported data, refer to the “Animation Settings” section below.
If there are no settings specified, the data will be exported at the default animation settings.
Camera
The camera data of Eye point, Target point, Bank and Zoom are exported. All the other camera data are ignored. This plug-in exports data for multiple cameras displayed in the Camera pull-down menu in the Camera window. |
