The Color Window

Choosing Color from the View menu will display the Color window, enabling operations related to colors.

Color Box
This box displays the current color selected in the Color window. You can apply this color by dragging it from the color box to another appropriate window.
Clicking the color box will display your computer’s standard color selection dialog. You can then use that dialog to choose a color.
RGB Sliders
Dragging these three sliders (top-center) changes the three primary colors of the Red-Green-Blue color specification system. Click a slider while holding the Ctrl (Win) / option (Mac) to display a dialog in which you can enter a real number ranging from 0 to 1.
R Slider
This slider changes the intensity of red.
G Slider
This slider changes the intensity of green.
B Slider
This slider changes the intensity of blue.
CMY Sliders
Dragging these three sliders (top-right) changes the three primary colors of the Cyan-Magenta-Yellow color specification system. Click a slider while holding the Ctrl (Win) / option (Mac) to display a dialog in which you can enter a real number ranging from 0 to 1.
C Slider
This slider changes the intensity of cyan.
M Slider
This slider changes the intensity of magenta.
Y Slider
This slider changes the intensity of yellow.
HSV Show/Hide Button
This button is used to show or hide the sliders for setting hue, saturation, and value, as well as the preview box for displaying those components.
Hue Slider
Drag the slider or enter a value between 0 and 1 to change the hue.
Saturation Slider
Drag the slider or enter a value between 0 and 1 to change the saturation. The closer the value is to 1, the purer the color will be.
Value Slider
Drag the slider or enter a value between 0 and 1 to change the value. The tone becomes darker as the value gets closer to 0, and lighter as the value gets closer to 1.
Color List Show/Hide Button
Click this button to show/hide the Color List.
Clear Button
This button is used to clear the Color List.
Save Button
This button is used to save the Color List as a Color List file.
Load Button
You can load a color list from a Color List file with the extension “.shdclt.” Color files and color systems from Adobe Illustrator (in the Mac OS X version, files in the Color System Folders in Illustrator 5.5, or files in the Swatch Library files in Illustrator 7.0; in the Windows version, the .AI files in the Swatch Libraries folder in Illustrator 7.01) can be loaded.
